Chough Hotel

17th Century Inn

Chard, Somerset

Ghost of little girl called Elizabeth who plays with the hotel children, and apparently gave them a wooden toy! An old man seen in the attic where he was hanged. Old William haunts the bar, and ‘Uncle Harry’ is seen by the pool table, and there is an old woman seen in the corridor. Also the ghosts of Elizabeth’s parents. Also there is a tombstone in downstairs bar, and it is said to be impossible to take a flash photograph of it. Various people attest to the truth of this claim, and in the 1970’s it was linked to a ghostly knight. It is also said that Judge Jeffries was here during the Assizes after Monmouths Rebellion and haunts.
Strong poltergeist type activity this year, often responding to comments by people. Currently very active.
